About the tour
A National Call to Action for Girls’ Mental Health and Well-Being
Across the nation, Black girls are facing a mental health crisis—too often unseen and unsupported. The Pathway to Power Tour is our response: a social, emotional, and leadership experience that brings healing-centered, culturally affirming programming directly into middle and high schools.
In just three hours, students engage in practices that restore wellness, build resilience, and open doors to future possibilities—rooted in SEL (social emotional learning), expanded through STEAM, and grounded in leadership and sisterhood.
As Black Girls Can Inc. marks 10 years of service, we’re taking our mission nationwide: 10 schools. 10 cities. 1 mission. To empower Black girls to step boldly into their futures with confidence and purpose.
The Pathway to Power Tour is a movement that brings together students, parents, educators, and partners with one shared purpose: to create safe, affirming spaces for girls to heal, lead, and thrive.
Our Why
America is facing a youth hopelessness epidemic, and Black girls are at the center of it.
In 2023, 53% of high school girls reported feeling persistently sad or hopeless, with Black girls among the hardest hit.
1 in 4 teen girls (26.5%) experienced depression symptoms—double the rate of boys.
Suicide rates among Black youth (10–19) have risen 54% since 2019, the fastest increase of any group.
Gun-related suicides among Black youth have tripled since 2014.
A study found that confident girls are 20% more likely to say they want a STEM career than their less confident peers. Additionally, girls who feel supported and accepted at school show 50% more interest in STEM.
These numbers aren’t just statistics—they represent daughters, sisters, and future leaders. The Pathway to Power Tour exists to meet this crisis with healing, leadership, and culturally relevant support.

HOW IT WORKS
We aim to partner with school leadership across 10 schools in 10 cities to bring a powerful in-school activation: a 3-hour gym takeover designed exclusively for girls in grades 8–12. Each activation will serve 50–100 students.
Experience Flow:
Yoga & Meditation—grounding practices for mental and emotional wellness
Sisterhood Conversation—healing circle and dialogue rooted in identity and connection
STEAM Career Exploration—hands-on activities that open doors to creative and future-ready pathways
Closing with affirmation, nourishment, and community connection
